This photo of my brother Tim with his daughter Hazel [and Zaccharias the mule] shows a lot of what I love in the Papingo mountains. A sparse, rocky landscape, with extraordinary blue thistles. Travelling in good company. Sunshine and cool breezes. Someone to carry the kit!

“Frances Annear writes from the heart with a steady pulse of geographical knowledge, a deep affection for the area and the urge to share her hikes and wanderings with others. I highly recommend this guide.”
